Creation

Unquestionably it would be easier to use others to help with the process of creating a doll - as most if not all other doll makers do. However, to ensure an absolutely faithful representation of each character, Victoria insists that every aspect of the creation is under her personal control and it is unusual to find a Lady of Finavon creation that is not 100% constructed by the Lady herself.

In a very few instances third party assistance will be obtained. For example,to create a faithful scale reproduction of the Order of the Holy Spirit worn by Louis XIV, a commission was given to the Parisian jeweller who holds the original full scale dies. But with rare exceptions such as this everything is personally constructed.

The sculpting, mould making, slip pouring, firing and finishing of the porcelain, painting, inserting and positioning of realistic glass eyes, wig making, fabric embroidery and sewing of costumes, construction of corsets and underwear, cobbling of shoes and re-creation of jewellery and accessories all blossom from her skilled hands.
